Shoreline stabilization and bank erosion repair for lakes and basins
Eroding banks silt in the lake, undercut walkways and eventually become a liability claim. We rebuild edges with a stabilization method matched to slope, wave action and how the shoreline is used.

Methods
- Riprap and rock armoring for high-energy edges
- Coir logs and geotextile with native plantings for natural banks
- Articulated concrete block and gabion walls where walkways sit at the edge
- Regrading and drainage correction to stop runoff scouring
Signs you need shoreline help
- Banks are undercut or slumping
- Walkways, tee boxes or fences near the water are cracking or tilting
- The lake is visibly shallower from washed-in soil
- Storms leave muddy water for weeks
What drives the cost
Priced per linear foot by method: coir and plantings at the low end, riprap and geotextile in the middle, articulated block and gabions at the high end. Access and equipment staging affect cost more than the method does.
What this service covers
Shoreline restoration sits under the wider heading of lake management. Clients tend to call it shoreline repair or bank stabilization; whatever the name, the work breaks down into a few distinct jobs:
Riprap and rock armoring
Graded rock over geotextile for high-energy edges.
Coir log and geotextile edges
Biodegradable logs and fabric that establish a planted, natural bank.
Articulated concrete block
Interlocking block mats for edges with walkways and heavy foot traffic.
Gabion walls
Rock-filled wire baskets for steep or undercut banks.
Planted and bioengineered banks
Native plantings and live stakes that hold soil as they grow.
Regrading and drainage correction
Stopping the runoff that scours the bank in the first place.
Terms you'll hear from our technicians on this work: wave action, scour, undercutting, sediment, native plantings, geotextile, riprap, retention basin, flood control.

Questions about shorelines
Does shoreline work need a permit?
Work on private recirculating lakes usually doesn't. Anything touching a natural waterway or a flood-control basin may involve the county or a state agency; we'll tell you at the assessment.
